2018 releases (as of December 2018)

Image
2018 brought word of  the return of ABBA with the release of two new songs coming in early 2019 .  There is also a release of a new Frida duet, and a new Mamma Mia! movie soundtrack.
There seems to be a plan to release another vinyl version of "Happy New Year" at the end of the year-as well a Vinyl version of ABBA's Oro.

Benny Andersson-Piano, November 23, 2018  Deluxe edition International CD/DL

A new version with 2 more songs that were apparently recorded recently-and not with the original sessions. The new songs added are "Money, Money, Money: and  "Jag hor".
The two songs were also released as a digital single in some markets.

ABBA-ORO, November 16, 2018

All 15 tracks found on the revised version of ORO are available on  one vinyl set  (I believe) for the first time.

Original Soundtrack-Mamma Here We Go Again (Singalong edition)  November 23, 2018  2CD/DL International (USA released in December).

As the title suggests this set features one disc of instrume…

Cher covers ABBA.

Cher--Dancing Queen, Warner Brothers, September 28, 2018 International album
Cher's new album of ABBA covers is doing well.  I don't like ABBA covers usually-but I think she does pretty good-though don't care much for the album. Cher of course, appeared in a movie stealing role as Donna's mother in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. The version of "Fernando" included is the same as the one used in the that movie.

ABBA coming out with two new songs for the ABBAtar project. (Updated September 2018)

The was the official word from the group that they have actually recorded two new songs-they're  first studio recordings since August 1982. The two  new  recordings were made in June of  2017 for the ABBAtar  hologram concert project.  The first song "I Still Have Faith In You" will be revealed during the ABBAtar TV special in December 2018.  The second song, "Don't Shut Me Down" will presumably revealed later probably for the actual hologram tour. Individual physical singles CD etc. will be released of the songs.

Holograms of the group will go on a some kind of concert tour in 2019. The musicians on the records include Benny Andersson /Keyboards, Lasse Wellander/guitar, Per Lindvall/drums, Mats Englund/bass, Lasse Jonsson/guitar and  Jörgen Stenberg-percussion.  Janne Schaffer didn't play on it. Nor did ABBA regulars Rutger Gunnarsson and Ola Brunkert since they both have passed away.  It's does not appear that  Michael B. Tretow was involved sin…

After ABBA 2CD set.

Various ‎– After ABBA, Polar 60256741812, May 5, 2018 Swedish 2CD (No LP version)
This is a  new compilation sold only at ABBA-The Museum.  It is a follow up  to the Museums previous Before ABBA compilation which also made as a Museum exclusive. The set has a Fairly  generous track listing-though I might have picked a few other tracks. But they include some stuff that has never appeared on  albums by Frida or Benny. I 'm guessing most  fans do not have  all the tracks  that are  on this set.  At some point,  this album is also   available on the ABBA-The Museum website, the 2CD set is cheap, but shipping is expensive. This release was meant to accompany a new exhibit at the ABBA museum which covers the Post-ABBA solo years.
